The Rugby Six Nations tournament is the premier international rugby union tournament in the Northern Hemisphere. The winner of this championship, which is being played right now, is also called the European Champion. While all the attention centers around the men's tournament few people are aware that the women's championship is also being held at the same time.
Not only is there a lack of awareness for the women's game, which runs to the same schedule as the men's tournament, there is also little coverage for the games played. And this lack of interest runs across each of the six nations, England, Wales, France, Ireland, Italy, and Scotland. Even though the women's tournament has been around for years, and even when teams like the Wales Women's team are doing well, they still don't receive much coverage or crowd support. And this is rugby-obsessed Wales that we're talking about!
Women's national rugby sides have it so bad that they have to do their own laundry after the intensely physical games....
Wales Online
Abbie Wightwick
Welcome to the world of women's rugby, where not only are the team expected to play for nothing but also to train just as hard as our national heroes – and to do their own washing. Prop Claire Horgan simply says being treated differently is frustrating: "The difference is something we realise when we go and train. We see all the men’s shirts and on the wall there’s a sign about their training session and when their laundry’s going to be picked up."
Not only that but Wales Women, like many women in many spheres, must multi task. They juggle games and training with full time jobs or university courses, often many miles away. It may seem a small issue but it's a potent symbol of how women and women's sport – women's rugby in particular – are treated.
Most people in Wales probably know our men's side beat Scotland in the RBS Six Nations last Sunday and are due to take on England today. But how many know there is a simultaneous women's RBS Six Nations and that our women also defeated Scotland last week?
And if we marvel at the physical risks our men take, consider the list of injuries Wales women players notch up. Second row Louise Horgan, 29, has broken bones in her fingers, hands and feet. She's broken her nose twice and dislocated both knees and one of her shoulders. Her identical twin Claire, who plays prop, has also broken her nose twice, fractured hand bones and torn ligaments in both knees. "I never get worried how my looks are affected but how injuries might affect my game and my job," says Claire, who is a sergeant in the Metropolitan Police, working in the tough London borough of Hackney. "It is a rough game and nobody holds back. I'm not a girly girl. I'm 6ft with short hair and built to play rugby. I box as well, but I come away with fewer injuries from that."
They don't get paid and believe it's unlikely they ever will, but they're among the best in Europe and are muscling up for a place in next year's world cup. Since Wales Women first took part in the Six Nations competition in 2002 they have risen from one of the bottom three slots to second. Last year they came second in the Six Nations and European Championships and are now a force to be reckoned with across Europe and in Britain.

To be an elite athlete and not get the proper recognition for it is almost as annoying as having to take your dirty kit home while the boys have theirs whisked away for cleaning, say some of the team. "The men did extremely well last year and I'd like to see them do well this year but historically the women are successful too. Over the last couple of years it has changed a bit. Now we're in the WRU and have the same shirt sponsors. People are taking more interest now. They come to watch our games and with the forthcoming Women's World Cup being held in England it will highlight women’s rugby," says Louise.
Wales Women coach Jason Lewis believes women are more diligent than men and pay more attention to details of the game. He estimates between 400 and 500 people turn up to watch a high profile international women's game. But it is still very far away from the tens of thousands who turn up to see the men on the battlefield at the Millennium Stadium. He has now set his side the target of finishing in the top three of this year's Women's Six Nations to get an automatic qualifying spot for next year's Rugby World Cup to be staged in England.
Wales Women's captain Mellissa Berry got her first cap for Wales in 1998 at the age of 16 and has captained for six years, says: "We don’t play for money. It would be fantastic to get money to train full time instead of having to work. The fact we combine jobs and training just shows the commitment of the players. We don't get the luxury of being paid."
When not representing her country at rugby Mellissa is a sports coordinator in Llanedeyrn and Llanrumney high schools for Sport Wales in Cardiff. As such she tries to encourage girls into all sport. She started playing rugby aged eight with boys at Mumbles RFC and then moved on to Swansea Uplands women's team.
Mellissa now plays for and captains Bristol Ladies WRFC and, like many of the Wales Women players, has brothers who played rugby, but not at the same top level.
She says it's a shame girls don't get more encouragement to play rugby as they can excel at the sport as much as boys – if not better. Although she concedes the women's game is different to men's she says the same skills are needed, although the women don't spend as much time on their kicking skills. "We aren't going to be as quick or strong physically as men because that's physically impossible," she points out.

2009 Cheerleading Championships on ESPN
The 2009 College Cheer and Dance Team National Championship held in the United States, were broadcast internationally by ESPN on Feb 22. It gave the global audience a revealing picture of school spirit, moves, stunts, and dances by American cheerleaders. The cheerleading sports events are produced by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) while the dance competitions come under the Universal Dance Association (UDA).
Teams from 43 states and 152 universities and colleges competed in the event, which meant a total of 3000 cheerleaders. An estimated 6,000 spectators attended the competition, with performances at the Wide World of Sports Complex and the Indiana Jones Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. Millions worldwide would have now watched the televised event.
The University of Kentucky cheerleaders have been dominating the Division 1-A title, winning it for a record 17th time, their fifth in the last six years. The University of Cincinnati cheerleaders will represent the United States at the first ever Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, Florida, on April 24, 2009.
San Diego State cheerleaders, the Aztecs, won the All Girl Division I, and captured their first ever national championship trophy in the division. An all-girl team can do fewer stunts and jumps to avoid cheerleading injuries because there are no strong boys to lift and flip them. Watch the Aztec cheerleader girls in action:

Stimulating foods
A list of food groups that are tasty, wholesome, and stimulating. These will give you essential nutrients, keep your mind alert and focused, and make your body feel light and energetic.
Whole grains, like whole-wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal are great sources of dietary fiber, carbohydrates, B vitamins and iron.
Pulses are packed with protein, fiber and iron. Lentils, legumes, chickpeas, beans, etc. Like whole grains, pulses are also low in fat, calories and sodium.
Underground vegetables such as carrots and potatoes are fat- and cholesterol-free with vitamin C and other nutrients.
Milk products provide bone strengthening calcium and protein. Eggs also provide protein, but previously egg yolks were advised against because they contained cholesterol. But now researchers for the British Nutrition Foundation conclude that the type of cholesterol found in eggs has minimal effect on raising heart disease risks. Most Britons still go by the three-eggs-a-week rule to be on the safe side.
Apples, bananas and citrus fruits are fat and cholesterol-free and a good source of vitamins and fiber. Raisins are a good source of antioxidants, potassium, iron and fiber.
Almonds, hazelnuts and cashew nuts are high in protein and magnesium. While Brazil nuts contain selenium which is a natural mood booster.
If you're not getting enough protein from nuts, pulses, or milk, then take lean meats like chicken and fish. The omega 3 fatty acids in fish like salmon and in leafy green vegetables help to fight depression.
And of course water is essential for transporting nutrients inside the body, removing fatigue, maintaining body temperature, and detoxifying.

Removing pubic hair
While body hair removal is very common for women and girls, removing pubic hair has also become popular. It started first with removing unsightly hair that sprouted out from under skimpy bikinis. The trend was driven by the media and made more popular by models, movie stars, and athletes.
Initially it was the bikini wax, which removes hair around the front of the bikini line only, that was popular. Then later as wearing thongs and G-strings became increasingly prevalent, the Brazilian bikini wax came into vogue. This method, was introduced to New York in 1987 by seven Brazilian sisters, who today run the J. Sisters Salon in midtown Manhattan. "The Brazilian" as it is called for short removes pubic hair everywhere, including from between the cheeks of the bottom.
The reasons that women remove body hair are to feel clean and hygienic. Hair removal also shows off the curves and definition of the muscles. Pubic hair is different from body hair; it is curly and coarse. And the skin of the pubes is soft and sensitive. The reasons for removing pubic hair are also different.
Some girls like it because it makes them feel clean, or because their crotch doesn't smell after the hair is removed. Others like it because it makes them feel sexier and more glamorous, and because their boyfriends or husbands like it that way.
Apart from the bikini wax and "the Brazilian" there are other methods of removing pubic hair. Laser treatments and shaving are also popular. Since pubic hair is coarse and curly it should be softened by taking a warm bath, and should be trimmed before the gel and razor are applied. Nicks and burns from shaving and skin irritation from waxing mean that pubic hair removal should be don with the help of professionals. Otherwise simply trimming pubic hair is sufficient for looking clean:

Chewing gum lowers stress improves memory

As per the U.S. Census Bureau, the average American chews 1.8 pounds of gum a year. Chewing gum by children (photo: Istock/Kameel) after meals fights cavities by stimulating the production of saliva, which dissolves the remaining food fragments lodged in the teeth. Chewing gum also helps in eliminating bad breath.
Chewing gum lowers stress and tension while kids are studying. Because the act of chewing signals the brain that it is mealtime, which then recreates the comfort and good feelings that we have at family meals.
Chewing gum increases the heart rate and sends oxygen to the brain, which improves a person's memory and concentration. And now the Pasadena Star News reports:
Researchers believe gum chewing promotes the production of saliva, gastrointestinal hormones and secretions from the pancreas, all of which stimulate bowel recovery (after surgery for colon cancer). But the benefits don't stop there. Faster recovery could save the United States about $100 million in health-care costs each year.

How many inches?
High heels make women look tall and feel sexy and confident. They give shape to the calf muscles, lift the buttocks, and make the feet look pretty. Most men love women in high heels.....but too many inches in those heels, leave women with many problems. Like foot cramps, chronic pain, torn ligaments, calluses, bunions and ingrown toenails. Preteen girls, whose muscles have not fully developed, can suffer more serious injuries form wearing high heels. Wearing stiletto footwear in extreme cases has led to the trauma of women undergoing foot surgeries! So how many inches are enough for women who wish to look sexy without getting these problems?
There is also the right way to walk in heels without falling over. You stand straight and fix your gaze on a point on the horizon, and thrust out your hip to ensure that you look sexy and confident. Swing your hips while walking. And keep your weight distributed equally on the toe and heel while walking.
Some stilettos have as many as seven inch heels and are particularly bad for feet. But the high heel culture in women's fashion is all pervasive. These Women's Hayden Sandals by Report Footwear have 4 1/4 inch heels (including the 3/4 inch platform):
Podiatrists of the Mayo Clinic advise women to opt for a heel that doesn't exceed an inch and one-half. Some other experts recommend heels no higher than two and a quarter inches.High heels and celebrities
Female celebrities are seen wearing high heels to movie premieres, fashion shows, award shows, TV talk shows, parties and other events. They create the impression of looking sexy and wearing high heels all the time....and not suffering the consequences that regular women have to endure. Like supermodel Gisele Bundchen:
Although Gisele looks sexy in heels, she doesn't wear them as often as it appears. Neither do the other models and actresses. Most of them wear sneakers and flats when on the way to an event, and slip on the heels when they know that the cameras will be on them.

Dreams
Sweet dreams is not just an expression....eating carbohydrates triggers the release of chemicals like serotonin, the calming chemical in the brain which regulates sleep and dreaming. There are different sleep-inducing foods like milk, biscuits and chocolates that are given to children to help them in sleeping. Adults of course are not advised to eat before bedtime, despite their sugar cravings, because of weight gain issues.
We get dreams during the phase of sleep knowns as REM (rapid eye movement). This is a state of irregular breathing and an increased heart rate, apart from rapid movement of the pupils beneath our closed eyes, which are following events in a dream. For some people even a small piece of chocolate can induce sleep and cause dreams.
For teenagers, in whose bodies the hormones start kicking in, dreams can be very vivid and often sexual.Sexual dreams and nocturnal orgasms
Testosterone in boys kick starts changes in the testes and in girls oestrogen does the same to the ovaries. Hormones also cause the onset of periods. The female egg takes three days to move from the ovaries to the womb. In this time the lining of the womb thickens and if the egg is not fertilized, the lining is shed and blood released with each period.
Teenage boys also experience involuntary erections while sleeping and nocturnal emissions (commonly known as wet dreams). Almost all boys thus experience their first orgasms in their dreams.
By contrast it is not well known that even women have sexual dreams and nocturnal orgasms. It is estimated that 45% of women experience at least one orgasm while sleeping. The famous sex researcher Kinsey found that 5 percent of his female respondents experienced their first orgasm as a sleep-generated orgasm.
Women and girls have more vivid sexual dreams than boys. Teenage girls report experiencing muscle contractions and spasms in the vagina while having erotic dreams. Older women seem to have sexual dreams and orgasms while they're ovulating. Even pregnant women get such dreams. The hormone oxytocin stimulates vaginal contractions at orgasm and also regulates milk ejection in breasts.

Zits pimples acne
Zits and pimples are a fact of life for teens. But such unsightly outbreak, called acne, also affects millions of adults of all races and nationalities. A long list of famous people are known to have suffered from acne: Liv Tyler, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Ethan Hawke, Britney Spears, Tommy Lee Jones, Ray Liotta, Elizabeth Hurley, Brad Pitt, Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba, Mike Myers, Rene Russo and Nicolas Cage. Teens and adults get acne for different reasons.
During puberty more boys than girls get zits and pimples. Part of the reason is heredity; if either of your parents had zits and pimples when they were young, chances are high that you will have to go through that same traumatic experience.
Increase in the androgen hormone causes oil glands to enlarge and produce more oil, which then form into zits and pimples. People with oily skin also suffer more from acne than those with dry skin. Teenage girls get zits and pimple a few days before their menstrual period, due to changes in hormone levels.
Teens usually turn to facial creams and powders to deal with their zits, which almost never work. Doctors usually prescribe antibiotics, which also don't work fast enough. One dangerous pill Accutane does help in curing acne but with terrible side-effects like dry skin, migraine, depression, suicidal thoughts. And it doesn't make the zits and pimples go away permanently.
Adults suffer from acne because of changes in hormone levels in their 20's and 30's. The primary cause of such adult hormone change is stress, fatigue and an unhealthy lifestyle. At the Cannes premiere of Shrek II, actor Cameron Diaz had an Acne attack. Diaz camouflaged it with the help of make-up artists and continued in her duties.
I want girls to realize that nobody looks like the women in the glossy photos without the help of a load of talented people.
Diaz confesses she still suffers outbreaks of acne, something that has affected her since childhood: "Sometimes I'll look in the mirror and be like, Damn, where did that come from? Seriously! I'm 35 years old. When is this going to stop?!"
Adults must always seek professional help to treat their acne outbreaks and not rely on home treatments. Zits and pimples are removed through micro-dermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser treatments.

Girls need eye candy
Women love chocolate and get sugar cravings, but sometimes they also need sweet candy for their eyes. It is said that girls respond more dramatically to pictures of nude or semi-nude men when they are ovulating. At this time they get turned on by rugged bodies and masculine faces.
But at all other times women are comfortable with men who are simply good providers and make good husbands. Nonetheless Rugby Romance novels by Mills & Boon are based on the former premise that girls do need eye candy in the shape of rugged muscular men. Clare Somerville, sales and marketing director for Mills & Boon said, "Rugby has always been a game enjoyed by women and in Wales the crowds always feature a lot of female fans waving their flags and roaring their men on."
The 5'8" tall 22-year-old Rugby star Danny Care shows off his perfectly toned body during a revealing photoshoot for the March issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine (courtesy Daily Mail). It's all for a good cause though; the Everyman campaign raises awareness of prostate and testicular cancer and urges men to get tested for the diseases.
What kind of female eye candy does Danny like?
He said: "I'm not just attracted to overly fit women - someone who's happy with her body is more attractive than a woman who's in perfect shape."

Why women get sugar cravings

When we eat carbohydrates, the amount of serotonin in the brain increases. Serotonin is a natural emotion-regulating chemical, which calms us down, helps in sleeping, and generally makes us happier. Because of this women regard sugar, and other sweet stuff, with magical powers. But consuming sugar, sweet snacks, ice cream, or chocolate, to feel better gives us more serious health problems like obesity and diabetes.
Older women suffer from depression, irritability, anxiety, confusion, and social withdrawal due to menopause. These problems are associated with hormonal changes, a negative body image, and with the menstrual cycle in younger females.
While sugar is the most convenient and easily-available carbohydrate, sugar substitutes have been around for ages. Saccharin, aspartame, and, sucralose are in the market none of them tastes like sugar. Last month, the FDA approved stevia, a zero-calorie sweetener derived from a Paraguayan plant, as a food additive in the United States. The sweet part, rebiana, comes from the stevia's leaves and has been used as a sweetener in Asia for years.
Sugar substitutes should not be consumed recklessly; a person weighing 150 pounds (68 kg) should not consume more than six cans of diet soda containing sucralose per day. The real problem with sugar cravings is the western desire to sprinkle sugar, or sugar substitutes, on everything to make it sweet. The healthy way to satisfy sugar cravings
If you eat only a sweet snack, like a doughnut or pancakes for breakfast, your sugar craving will be satisfied. But the sugar spike in the blood will cause insulin levels to rise, which will again cause low blood sugar, later in the day.
To avoid getting trapped in this sugar-cravings cycle, include proteins (tofu, cheese, milk beans, soy, nuts, meat, poultry, fish, eggs,) in any meal or snack, because it helps in stabilizing blood sugar. Satisfy your sugar cravings through complex carbohydrates (a bowl of oatmeal or fruit) instead of sweet snacks. Complex carbohydrates release glucose slowly and that does not spike insulin levels (avoid sprinkling sugar on fruit or other naturally sweet foods).
In 2007, researchers at Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK found that when people chew gum, either sugar-free or regular, for 15 minutes hourly after eating lunch, their appetite and desire for sweet snacks is reduced.

Jennifer Aniston fitness
Jennifer Aniston and her singer-boyfriend John Mayer were seen at Super Bowl 43 this Sunday, reports People Magazine. "She and John were affectionate and shared some hugs during the game," says a source. "They acted like a normal couple spending a casual Sunday together with friends."
Aniston even pitched in after the game and helped clean up the kitchen, the source says. This should end rumors of their break-up, but fresh stories of Mayer cheating on Jennifer keep appearing. Jennifer Aniston turns 40 on February 11. The actress will be seen in He's Just Not That Into You, with a multi-star cast of Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Connelly, Justin Long, Drew Barrymore, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kevin Connolly, and Bradley Cooper. Aniston has always kept her fitness through a controlled diet and exercise program, but has found new energy and focus through Yoga.
Entertainmentwise
The former Friends actress reportedly keeps cellulite at bay with a healthy combination of "running and Yoga and eating well."
Jennifer has admitted that she turned to Yoga after her painful divorce from Brad Pitt in 2005, telling Self magazine, "I was crying through moves, It’s good to get that stuff out. You feel like you're having a therapy session, a workout and a meditation at the same time."
According to the latest issue of US Weekly, Jennifer works out with her fitness instructor and friend Mandy Ingber in her home gym for two hours every other day, starting with Yoga and then finishing with 20 minutes of cardio on the elliptical or treadmill (at 5.7 mph at an incline of 1.5 to be precise). Initially skeptical about Yoga, Jennifer says that the ancient Indian health system has, "My legs got leaner. My arms got strong. I've maybe even grown half an inch from aligning my spine." Yoga has also been good for her emotional fitness.
And during shooting for the romantic comedy Marley & Me, Aniston was reportedly up at 6am each morning to go for a run before filming. Jennifer made waves when she showed off the results of her hard work by posing nude on the cover of the January edition of GQ.
She used to follow the Atkins diet. Jennifer enjoys sushi and a typical meal for her is three rolls of sushi or a fish entrée at Michael's Genuine in Miami. She's also fond of red wine and lychee martinis but does not have a sweet tooth.....Jennifer can get by without eating chocolate!
